Too many people view the church as a simply a business or non-profit organization. While it is true that the church must be organized in order to effectively minister, it's structure must be based upon relationships rather than a political or secular hierarchy.
A better way to view the church is as an extension of GOD'S FAMILY. The Bible refers to the church as "the household of God" (I Timothy 3:15 & I Peter 4:17). God calls Himself our "Father" (Matthew 6:9) and refers to believers as "the children of God" (I John 1:12). God instructs us to treat each other as "brothers" and "sisters" (I Timothy 5:1-2) and to view the leaders of the church as "elders" (I Timothy 5:17).
All these terms indicate that the church should function like a loving and caring family. Jesus said, "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35) Members of the church should not treat each other as business associates, but as loving family members.
How does viewing the church as a family affect our ministry? We make every effort to express Christ's love and acceptance to all who enter our doors. We welcome you as part of God's Family.
And because of God's emphisis on the family, we encourage age-integrated worship. Many churches exclude children from their Worship Services, but at TPCC your children are always welcome to worship with you. Pastor Mike prepares a special Children's Corner lesson especially directed toward the kids each Sunday. We want the whole family to feel accepted and included.
We also provide a well-staffed Nursery and Children's Church Program to assist in teaching your children. The children are dismissed to their classes half-way though our Sunday Worship Service.
"Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." (Mark 10:14)
